ICHR warns of the looming danger of further atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation against innocent civilians and critical civilian infrastructure

Palestine Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) warns of the looming danger of further atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation against innocent civilians and critical civilian infrastructure. Particularly concerning are the explicit threats issued by Israeli military leaders, targeting the Al-Quds Hospital, the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent, and shelters housing tens of thousands of displaced individuals who have sought refuge in schools operated by UNRWA amidst the ongoing aggression on Gaza.

In response to this imminent threat, we urgently call upon the international community and UN and international organizations to take this warning seriously and fulfill their commitments, primarily preventing additional loss of innocent lives. We specifically address our appeal to the UNRWA Commissioner-General, Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, and to the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mr. Martin Griffiths, urging them to shoulder their responsibilities and take swift, resolute actions to deter the Israeli occupation from perpetrating further massacres against innocent civilians. Furthermore, we implore them to ensure the protection of UNRWA facilities and hospitals in strict accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
