The Independent Commission for Human Rights submits an Oral Statement to the United Nations Human Rights Council on the Israeli attack on the Gaza Solidarity Freedom Flotillas

Ramallah/  The United Nations Human Rights Council is convening for an international investigation regarding the Israeli attack on the Gaza Solidarity Freedom Flotillas.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights, as the Palestinian National Human Rights Institution, is presenting an oral statement during the Special Session of the  Human Rights Council. The draft resolution of the Council asks the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide facts with regard to the circumstances of the arrest of several human rights activists by Israel and their current situation, as well as the situation of those who were injured during the attack.

The Arab group is to suggest a draft resolution to be voted on in the Human Rights Council which condemns Israel in the strongest manner, and asks it for a public apology to the families of the victims for killing innocent civilians. 

This draft resolution also asks Israel for the immediate release of detained international activists and the unconditional return to their countries of origin and asks Israel to urgently transfer all humanitarian aid contained in the ships to the besieged Gaza Strip. 

Finally, the resolution asks the Human Rights Council to form an independent investigation on the Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, committed against International Law.
