ICHR concludes training on integrity of search procedures

In partnership with the Police Directorate General of Training, the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) concluded a training course on Search Procedures and Due Process. The training targeted a number of staff members of the Police Investigations and Anti-Narcotics departments.

Held over two days, the training included a set of presentations on human rights principles, search procedures, preventive and investigative searches, report writing, and evidence collection. It was informed by the application of a number of focused scenarios.

Islam at-Tamimi, Manager of the ICHR Public Awareness and Training Department, explained that the training course aimed at providing capacity building to participants. In the context of a sustainable training programme, a joint guidance manual on search procedures is being developed jointly by the ICHR and Police.

According to Colonel Mufid Zureiqat, Policy and Planning Department Director, Police Directorate General of Training, the training contributes to building the capacities of Police personnel, maintaining order and the rule of law, and reducing irregularities in search procedures.
