ICHR issues an urgent appeal to reveal the fate of detainees in Gaza after they were subjected to torture by the occupation soldiers

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) urgently appeals to international bodies and organizations with relevant expertise to immediately investigate reports of the Israeli military conducting field executions of unarmed civilians in northern Gaza. This is in conjunction with the detainment and ill-treatment of an unknown number of civilians, who were reportedly stripped and taken to undisclosed locations.

ICHR unequivocally holds Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these acts, which it classifies as war crimes and crimes against humanity. It implores third parties in the Geneva Conventions to act swiftly and decisively to halt the targeting of civilians and prevent further loss of life due to these atrocious acts. This call is further underscored by the emergence of videos allegedly showing Israeli forces killing unarmed civilians in shelters for displaced persons in northern Gaza.

ICHR also calls upon the International Committee of the Red Cross to exercise its authority and fulfill its legal and ethical responsibilities in revealing the fate of those who have been detained by the Israeli occupation forces. Immediate visits to these individuals are essential, especially given that the Israeli authorities have been holding a significant number of Gaza residents since the ground invasion, with no information available about their whereabouts.

We earnestly urge all states parties to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, as well the Working Group on Enforced Disappearances and relevant international institutions and bodies to assume their responsibilities. We implore them to take concrete and practical measures to halt the ongoing genocide, forced displacement and forced disappearance in Gaza before it is too late.
