ICHR is calling for the immediate return of UN relief and emergency workers to fulfill their duties in the Gaza and Northern Gaza areas.
In two separate messages sent today, addressed to the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, and the Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mr. Martin Griffiths, ICHR urged urgent and decisive action to bring back UN Relief and Humanitarian Operations staff to Gaza and Northern Gaza. This move is deemed crucial to alleviate the suffering of the citizens in these areas and is not only a humanitarian gesture but also essential in easing the plight of the people in Gaza.
The orders from the occupying forces, which mandated citizens to relocate to the south within 24 hours, have left these areas without any humanitarian support. The absence of relief organizations and humanitarian workers during this critical period has had devastating consequences for civilians, especially in conflict zones and crisis-affected areas.
