The continuous crimes against the Palestinian people
Palestine Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) unequivocally places the responsibility for the continuous crimes against the Palestinian people, including the recruitment of informants used in offenses against Palestinians, squarely on the occupying Israeli state. ICHR strongly urges law enforcement authorities to diligently perform their obligations by actively pursuing individuals accused of collaborating with the occupation and imposing severe penalties on those conclusively proven to be engaged in such activities. This should not be left to vigilante justice, particularly in light of the principle that the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty by a competent court that safeguards their right to a fair defense.
In this regard, ICHR expresses deep concern over the actions of Palestinian militants who, on Friday, November 24, 2023, in the city of Tulkarm, took the lives of two individuals accused of spying for the Israeli occupation. While recognizing the challenging circumstances faced by the Palestinian people due to the ongoing actions of the occupation, including the genocide in the making in Gaza, systematic assaults by the occupying army and settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem, arbitrary arrests, and extrajudicial executions of Palestinian activists and citizens, it underscores that these circumstances should not serve as a justification for extrajudicial killings. Such acts have the potential to to disorder, the erosion of the rule of law, and may inadvertently harm innocent individuals
