Regarding the regrettable Events in the City of Tubas
The Independent Commission for Human Rights ( ICHR) is deeply concerned about the unfortunate events that began on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Tubas Governorate. 

These events included the arrest of Ahmed Abu Al-Aida, who is being pursued by both the Palestinian security forces and the Israeli occupation. Following his arrest, several citizens protested by blocking roads, burning tires, and firing shots at security force offices to demand his release.

As a result, security reinforcements were called in from outside the governorate. Clashes have since become a daily occurrence, involving gunfire, the detonation of explosive devices, continuous raids on the homes of those being pursued and their supporters, arrests, house searches, and assaults on residents. Security forces have used live ammunition and tear gas, resulting in injuries, including a child shot in the neck.

In the past week, during an attempt by the security forces to arrest individuals wanted by the Israeli occupation, suspects were shot directly. This incident resulted in the injury of Husni Daraghmeh and Ayman Al-Masri.

While the Independent Commission for Human Rights condemns any attacks on security forces or official facilities, it calls on the Military Prosecutor to launch an immediate investigation into the incidents of citizens being injured by live fire. The investigation results should be made public and held responsible accountable.

ICHR urges all parties, including institutions, security forces, and citizens, to exercise restraint, adhere to the law, maintain civil peace, and protect public and private property. This is particularly important given the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and the intensifying military assault of the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
