ICHR Warns of Genocide Crimes Committed by the Israeli Occupation in Northern Gaza and Forced Evacuation of Civilians

 

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) warns of an escalation in unprecedented genocide crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians in northern Gaza, especially in Jabalia Camp and its surrounding areas.

The blockade has entered its eighth consecutive day, accompanied by sudden military incursions, direct targeting of civilians and civilian properties, and the deaths of dozens with hundreds more injured.

Medical teams are being prevented from reaching the wounded, with communication means cut off, and civilians unable to access safe shelters or life-saving medical services, including water sources. Such crimes signal the initiation of measures by the occupation forces to displace the population and fully evacuate these areas forcibly.

The occupation forces continue to tighten their blockade of Jabalia Camp and the surrounding areas. According to testimonies gathered by the ICHR, on October 5, 2024, Israeli military vehicles advanced from multiple directions toward Jabalia Camp, firing heavily and positioning themselves around the Civil Administration building on Salah Al-Din Street. At the same time, the occupying forces ordered both residents and displaced persons in the area to head toward the Mawasi region in southern Gaza, claiming it to be a "humanitarian zone." The occupation specified the routes to be used for evacuation. On October 6, 2024, the Israeli army ordered the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital to evacuate all patients within 24 hours.

ICHR followed up that tens of thousands of citizens remain trapped in their homes and some shelter centers, especially in the northeastern parts of Gaza. Civilians are facing severe shortages of essential food, health supplies, clean drinking water, first aid, and a lack of medications for chronic illnesses.

ICHR warns of the continuation of the crimes perpetrated by Israel, the occupying power, against civilians in northern Gaza and the increasing restrictions on the work of international organizations.

 

ICHR urgently calls on international humanitarian organizations, especially the Red Cross, to pressure the occupation to ensure access to civilian victims and provide life-saving services, including medical care, food, and water, while also ensuring the protection of hospitals and calls on the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to contact the UN Security Council to hold an emergency session and pressure for a binding resolution to enable international organizations to carry out their duties, halt the military operations, lift the siege on northern Gaza, and allow residents to return to their homes.
