The Independent Commission for Human Rights  (ICHR) strongly condemns the shooting incident that took place yesterday in the city of Tulkarm, which resulted in the death of a police officer. It considers this incident a serious crime and an unprecedented major threat to the security and safety of citizens.

According to the ICHR’s follow-up, at around 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in the eastern neighborhood of Tulkarm, a police force came under direct fire from individuals wanted on criminal charges. As a result, 39-year-old Lieutenant Mohammed Ahmad Sadaqa was killed by a gunshot to the head.

ICHR calls on the relevant authorities to conduct an immediate investigation into the shooting, which occurred amid security chaos by outlaws, to pursue those responsible, and to take the necessary legal measures against such crimes.

In the same context, ICHR also emphasizes the need for security forces to adhere to the law and the codes governing the use of force while performing their duties to maintain security and enforce the law
