Court Ruling in Favor of Independent Commission Orders Reinstatement of Prisoner Salary

Today, the Administrative Court in Ramallah issued a ruling cancelling the implicit decision by the Minister of Finance that led to the suspension of prisoner Ahmad Firas  Hassan’s salary in mid-2025.

The case was filed on August 12, 2025, by the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) through its legal advisor, Mr. Ahmad Nasra, seeking to annul the decision.

Dr. Ammar dwaik, Director General of ICHR, stated that the Administrative Court’s decision—issued after several hearings and legal arguments—sets an important precedent that could be used to restore the salaries of more than 1,600 prisoners.
