Press Statement on Regrettable Events in Tulkarm City

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) closely and with great concern follows the unfortunate events in Tulkarm City, resulting in the killing of Ahmed Hisham Abu Al-Foul, 30 years old, from Tulkarm refugee camp, by security forces. 

This incident took place near Alsalam Roundabout in the southern neighborhood of the city. The incident was followed by protests and gunfire shooting.

The security forces claimed that they fired at the citizen after he shot at them, while the testimony of his family stated that the shooting and killing of her son were unjustified.

In light of the conflicting narratives, ICHR calls for the Public Prosecutor to immediately commence a criminal investigation into the killing of the citizen Abu Al-Foul, announce the results reached, and bring those involved to justice.  ICHR calls on all authorities, entities, security forces, and citizens to adhere to the law, maintain civil peace, and protect private and public property.
